William Miranda

Boxing Instructor, USA Boxing Coach, MMA Coach
William Miranda

William Miranda has been boxing for 17 years. William started at a recreation center called “Lost Battalion Hall” when he was 14 years old. When William was 16 he competed in the Junior Olympics in New York. He won in the NY tournament and was then sent to compete in the regional tournament in Lake Placid, NY. William won 2 fights on back to back days and advanced to the National Junior Olympic tournament in Marquette, Michigan. William lost to the eventual winner in the semi-finals but as a result of his efforts he was ranked by USA Boxing 3rd in the country for juniors. William was then invited to a 10 day training camp at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs all paid for by USA Boxing.

As a senior Will Miranda entered the New York City Golden Gloves tournament in 1995. He was one of the youngest in the tournament, barely 17 years old and was competing against guys in their early 20’s. Will won four fights in the tournament, losing the finals at Madison Square Garden and taking the silver.

Over the next few years, Will Miranda boxed at a couple of different gyms. Eventually he opened his own gym called Round 1 in Emmaus. Will trained both men and women for fitness and if it was desired – competition. One of his female fighters, Sara Elliot, won the PA Golden Gloves and took 2nd place in the National Female Golden Gloves held in Hollywood, Florida. The result earned her a #5 ranking in the country.

After some financial issues with his own business, William Miranda was happy to be part of the LVIRK Training Center training boxers and getting to work with the striking aspect of MMA. William loves to train aspiring, young competitors as well as giving people who always wanted to try something new an opportunity to train in a safe environment.
