PA Mixed Martial Arts Licensing
By Rodney Guignet
September 2009 Newsletter, 09/01/2009

Due to potential delays in paperwork and bloodwork processing, LVIRK Training Center is requiring MMA fighters to be registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania BEFORE Coach Rodney will submit their name to a promoter for a fight in PA.  If you would like to fight in PA, we recommend you submit all required paperwork at least 1 month before the scheduled event.

To fight in PA, professional and amateur MMA fighters must be licensed.  The application fee for the professional license is $22 and the fee for the amateur license is $10.  All fighters must provide an annual physical examination (on a Commission-approved form) as well as negative HIV, Hepatitis C, and Hepatitis B test results at time of licensing.  Other exams may also be required—particularly for fighters over the age of 36.  Examinations and test results cannot be more than 6 months old.  Keep in mind that these fees are the responsibility of the fighter and that health insurance may or may not cover the required tests.

All MMA fighters must also have a current Federal I.D. Card.  The application for the Federal I.D. Card requires two passport size photos.

In addition, all “debut” fighters MUST have Coach Rodney complete a Commission-approved form detailing the fighter’s experience and training in mixed martial arts competitions.

Fighters must mail all completed forms to:
State Athletic Commission (Attn: Gregory Sirb)
2601 North 3rd Street
Harrisburg, PA 17110

Remember to make copies of all documents and tests before mailing the originals.

For copies of the forms to complete, see Coach Rodney or visit the PA State Athletic Commission’s web site.
