Dave Shapiro made his amateur MMA debut on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Asylum Fight League’s event in Sayreville, NJ.  Even though this was his first fight, Dave had the honor of being the main event on the card.  Everyone expects a great fight for the main event and Dave did not disappoint.  He showed his martial arts experience as he dominated his opponent throughout the fight.  Dave initiated the fight with a series of punches and knee strikes, include a powerful right cross that broke his opponent’s nose.  While standing, Dave took his opponent’s back and forced his opponent to the ground.  The end drew near as Dave worked several submissions on the ground.  His opponent finally tapped when Dave caught him in a rear naked choke with 17 seconds left in the first round.
