On Saturday, May 22, 2010, LVIRK’s William “Big Stuff” Miranda made his professional boxing debut against Philadelphia’s Hassan Lee at the Pain on Penn Street event at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA. As the four-round heavyweight fight began, Lee appeared to have the advantage in size and stature as he towered over the shorter Miranda. Miranda soon proved that looks can be deceiving as he worked his way inside on the taller Lee and fired off bombs at Lee’s body.
The heavier handed Miranda caught Lee in the face with some big left hooks, which caused Lee’s eye to swell. Lee attempted to fight off and escape from the persistent Miranda, but Miranda did not back down. Miranda continually put pressure on Lee until the final seconds of the final round. With Miranda’s dominating performance, the crowd was shocked to hear that Miranda only won by a split decision.
Miranda coaches many young up and coming boxers at LVIRK and even cornered one of them, Gabe F. of Whitehall, PA, at Pain on Penn Street just a few matches before his own. Gabe put up a good fight against Luke Panusky of Scranton, PA, but lost the fight by a close decision.
